Mariposa Folk Festival Announces Additions to its Line-Up

March 12, 2009 by DirtyLinen2

Orillia, Ontario, Canada – Following an exciting sneak preview announcement in December of Buffy Sainte-Marie, The Proclaimers, Luke Doucet and Le Vent du Nord, Mariposa Folk Festival organizers are pleased to announce several more accomplished artists that will grace Mariposa stages this year.

The most recent additions to the line-up include New York bluesman, Guy Davis; relative newcomer with several East Coast Music Award nominations, Jenn Grant; multi-instrumentalist, Royal Wood; Rama’s own The Ronnie Douglas Blues Band; Canadian blue grass legends, the Dixie Flyers; Orillia singer-songwriter, Steph Dunn; old-time, rag-time, high steppin’ mountain music purveyors, Sheesham & Lotus; up-and-coming alt-country band, The John Henrys; and a trio of slam folk, folk hop, cabaret performance poets from Montreal, The Fugitives.

“This will be Mariposa’s 10th year back in Orillia, and we are celebrating by pulling together one of our strongest line-ups ever”,  said Catherine Brennan, Mariposa’s Folk Foundation President.

Under the direction of Mike Hill, Mariposa’s Artistic Committee has booked the last two festivals to high critical acclaim. In the coming weeks there will be many more announcements of notable performers that will wow the audiences at Mariposa’s nine stages.

Mariposa Folk Festival takes place July 3, 4, and 5 in Orillia’s beautiful Tudhope Park on the shores of Lake Couchiching.
