The 13th annual Rhythm & Roots Festival announces its spectacular all-star lineup for 2010. Held at Ninigret Park in Charlestown, Rhode Island every Labor Day weekend, the festival has become a destination event drawing roots music and dance fans from all over the country. 17th ANNUAL CAJUN & ZYDECO MARDI GRAS BALL RETURNS TO RHODE ISLAND’S RHODES ON THE PAWTUXET BALLROOM, SATURDAY FEB 21, 2009!
The annual legendary Cajun & Zydeco Mardi Gras Ball returns to the Rhodes on the Pawtuxet Ballroom, 60 Rhodes Pl., Cranston, RI on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 from 6:00 pm to midnight. This year features a performance by the renowned CJ Chenier & the Red Hot Louisiana Band, the Grammy nominated Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys, and fast rising zydeco stars, Jeffery Broussard & the Creole Cowboys. The Hot Tamale Brass Band will return to lead the costume judging parade and to keep the festive atmosphere between dance sets. Cajun food will be available by the Chili Brothers of Rhode Island, one of the most popular food vendors from the annual Rhythm & Roots Festival. The ball also features a costume contest with prizes and a cash bar.
