Nashville, TN- IBMA is proud to announce the nominees for the 20th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards, hosted by Grammy®-winning country artist Kathy Mattea and the legendary bluegrass band, Hot Rize, on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
Two decades after the very first IBMA Award Show–an intimate industry gathering at the Executive Inn’s Showroom Lounge in Owensboro, Kentucky, hosted by Vince Gill and the Dirt Band’s John McEuen–bluegrass music’s premier night continues to be the most anticipated evening of the year. Now a generation away from that first show, the bluegrass tradition of passing the music on from one generation to the next also continues, evidenced by the six bands nominated for Entertainer of the Year in 2009. All have gained valuable experience as journeymen musicians with established artists in the past, and have now become the band leaders and musical stylists who will inspire future generations. NASHVILLE, TENN. (January 22, 2009)– Rounder Records duo Dailey & Vincent will be guests on A Prairie Home Companion on Saturday, February 7, at the show’s home theater, The Fitzgerald, in St. Paul, Minnesota, at 5 p.m. CST. The beloved show is heard by more than 4 million listeners each week on some 580 public radio stations, and abroad on America One and the Armed Forces Networks in Europe and the Far East.
“When we sat down to talk about our goals for the first couple years of our career, we put A Prairie Home Companion on that list,” says Jamie Dailey. “It was a lofty goal, but I’ve done the show with Doyle Lawson, Darrin’s been there with Ricky Skaggs, and we both had a wonderful time. For us to be invited as Dailey & Vincent is quite an honor, and we’re very excited.”
In addition to being named Entertainer of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Awards in October, Dailey & Vincent took home honors for Vocal Group of the Year, Album of the Year (for their self-titled Rounder release), Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year (for “By the Mark”), Emerging Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year (Dailey) and Recorded Event of the Year, for Vincent’s participation in the Everett Lilly & Everybody and Their Brother project. No other artist has ever won Emerging Artist and Entertainer in the same year, a feat all the more incredible because the duo released their debut album only 12 months ago. They are also nominated for nine SPBGMA Bluegrass Awards at the upcoming ceremony on February 15. (more…)
